Invocations

2024 - 2025

This new collection of works draws inspiration from my experience growing up in an isolated Mediterranean landscape. Fragments of Albert Camus, together with excerpts from Rilke’s Sonnets to Orpheus, Anne Carson’s Wrong Norma, and Shakespeare’s The Tempest, are interwoven with my own writing interventions to create abstract geographies.

Language iterations serve as invocations of memories of a place that no longer exists or has yet to come into being, rooted in a landscape that is both familiar and uncharted.

Over the past two years I have been exploring the boundaries of the photographic image by integrating painting and writing on the silver gelatin handprint. Incorporating new processes has been an organic progression of my approach to image-making - understanding the image as a vessel of conceptual and symbolic agencies; which materiality and meaning can be transformed through gesture and movement.
